WELCOME TO LILY PAD!

Lily Pad at Metro Park is conveniently located in Alexandria, Virginia, one block from the Franconia Springfield Parkway. Not only is this convenient for the parents who work at Metro Park, but it allows for opportunities during the day to engage with their children. The developmental program at Lily Pad encourages infants and children in all facets of learning in a warm, nurturing environment. We are a preschool with extended daycare hours, creating flexible schedules for working parents. Through play-based learning and other activities, we aim to nurture little ones’ natural curiosity.

Our Philosophy

At Lily Pad we believe that an early childhood program with a strong emphasis on the journey of childhood melded with caring and direction by committed teachers in a stimulating environment encourages not only a love of learning and inquisitiveness but also children who are well-respected for their moral compass. When they feel supported and connected in a caring environment, children demonstrate their innate curiosity, are willing to take risks, and attempt something that appears challenging.

In the Lily Pad classrooms, children actively are involved in the learning process as they gain knowledge through their interactions with objects, ideas, and other individuals. Teachers guide the children as they present classroom materials, plan activities, and initiate discussions as well as provide developmentally appropriate experiences for child-initiated topics of interest. Through this active participatory learning approach, children develop important school readiness skills such as curiosity, independence, and persistence that they will need as they enter kindergarten.
